Your First Follow Up Email – Doable 15
There are two different options when mailing to your list – you can send out follow up emails (autoresponders) or broadcasts.
Follow up emails are emails that automatically go out as soon as someone is added to that list. You can set it up so that just one email goes out or that you have a whole series of emails go out. You can specify how many days apart the emails are delivered. Some businesses have months and even years worth of emails that go out automatically when someone signs up for something or purchases a product. People will always start at the beginning of the series when they sign up, so everyone on your list can be at different stages in the sequence at any given time. What is really great about this is that once you have set it up you don’t need to go back in and do anything to it as it all works automatically.
Below we have the ‘how-to’ of setting up your email but first we have the pleasure of watching Kate share with us why that first welcome email is so important and what to include.
To create a follow up email click on messages, follow up series and create your first follow up.
In here you can type up your message, add images and create your first message. Add a subject line and click on next, save and exit and then you are done.
There are a few things you want to include in your first email:
Thank and welcome them!!
Remind them what they signed up for.
Let them know how they are going to be able to access whatever it was they signed up for.
How they can get in contact with you if they have any questions
What is going to happen next – are they going to receive a weekly email or a monthly newsletter?
People like to know what to expect.
Unlike an autoresponder series, a broadcast is an email that goes out on a specific day or time and goes out to all the people that you want it to at once. This is generally how people set up their weekly emails. You would also use a broadcast if you wanted to send out something that was time specific or if you had a special promotion. You can schedule broadcasts in advance or you can go in, write it, and send it straight away. You create a broadcast message exactly the same as a follow up email – the only difference is that you click on broadcast message, instead of follow up message, and that you schedule the time.
